Michael Hansen uses strong editing, in-depth interviews, and poignant visuals to tell human focused, non-fiction stories. A graduate of Alfred University’s nationally renowned Fine Arts program, he has a distinctive vision, mixing the practical and the poignant. He enjoys the challenge of constructing impactful moments out of the ordinary.

Michael Hansen is an award winning editor, videographer, producer and director at Mountain Lake PBS. Michael produces, directs and edits Veterans Coming Home, a series that won a NYSBA award in 2018 for Outstanding Series or Documentary and has been nominated for multiple Emmy awards. Michael is also the lead editor, videographer, and produces segments for Mountain Lake Journal, MLPBS’s weekly news magazine program. Many of these segments have been featured on other PBS stations around New York State.

Michael has also served as editor on Arts in Exile, and On Home Ground, two feature length documentaries that have won an Emmy award for Best Documentary and a NYSBA award for best documentary respectively, and both later distributed to over 100 PBS stations around the country.
